You may or may not have noticed that the volume of comment spam here has rocketed over the last few days. Starting Christmas Eve this site has been hit hard by the scum of the Earth. I've been working to prevent this being a problem and now have it under control. If all goes well for the next few weeks, I'll turn the systems in use here into a publically available system for comment spam prevention. In the meantime, however, please let me know if anything is behaving strangely!

I considered it, yes. However, I absolutely hate the idea of using a system that will make commenting more difficult for actual users. I need a solution that can operate almost invisibly.

Any update on the success of your system? If so, I'd like to hear more about it.

Ditto. My site has been getting spam lately and I've implemented a few solutions but a few still show up from time to time... the more protection, the better.

Try Spam Karma 2, it's a wordpress plugin, if you are in fact using wordpress. It works a treat!

Hi KDB. I'm using Akismet now and it's working quite well. I'm not using Wordpress either, so Spam Karma isn't an option for me. Thanks for the suggestion though!
