I have an iPod. I like Winamp. So until recently, my life was trickier than need be. The iPod relies on iTunes to update its music, and only iTunes can make use of ratings and so on from the iPod. This means that playlists on your iPod, ratings, play counts and so on, cannot be carried acrodd to Winamp - my player of choice.
Until recently, that is. I've been using ml_iPod for a few days now and have found it very useful. It basically operates the same was as iTunes, allowing you to sync your media library, create smart playlists, and save ratings and play counts in both directions. Very very cool.

According to me I-tunes has a much better interface although it lacks the funky skins which Winamp has.
The Graphics are as good as winamp and the equalizer is even better. Somehow I feel winamp 5 is slow and requires more memory as compared to the smooth I-tunes. Secondly the I-tunes video format has good graphic quality and better sound.
It's time winamp should re-define it's player.

How can you claim winamp uses more memory than iTunes? iTunes IS NOT smooth if you are using a PC of any sort, its big and bulky and VERY demanding. I've always been a loyal winamp user, loved its simplicity and its simple need - to play mp3's. To me, winamp is just keeping up with the times but at the same time staying true to itself, as in a nutshell it is still just the simple mp3 player that I fell in love with almost 7 years ago. iTunes might be the choice for Mac OS X ect, but for windows I'll continue using winamp now, thank god for its added iPod support.
Each to their own however, and unfortunatly, I'm one of the bitter ones with a slow and old laptop. Winamp for me though. Thumbs up to its iPod support.

Yeah, iTunes feels like a fish out of water on a PC. Winamp is slick.

Have you ever try foobar? For me it is much better than Winamp.

I just installed winamp. It reconfigured all my icons on my desktop. This is stuff junk software did back in the 80's. If this is the quality of the software I vote NO on any of there stuff.

I badly wanna ditch Itunes and completely uninstall that junkware. THE most important feature I'm after which winamp and mediamonkey has is the ability to sync, to and from, ratings on the ipod and mediaplayer.
This is because I mostly listen to my new albums at work and have to tag songs i like and dont like. I really wish foobar2000 had this feature but afaik it doesnt.

I now highly recommend Songbird - includes ratings, syncs with ipods and integrates with last.fm. Still a bit rough around the edges, but improving with every release.
