I'm sure someone must have already done this and I'm just incapable of finding it (despite Googling it myself) but I figured that the only thing missing from the brilliant LetMeGoogleThatForYou was a bookmarklet, so I made one: LetMeGoogleThatForYou. Highlight text, click bookmarklet and voila - patronisation on demand.
LetMeGoogleThatForYou Bookmarklet, by Dave Child, was posted on 22 November 2008 and has been tagged with bookmarklet.

Brilliant. The amount of times I've had to post a basic google link to a retarded question now I can give them clear instructions on how to follow the same simple process I did.

Why not to use this:
javascript:document.location='http://www.google.com/search?q='+escape(window.getSelection());
instead of letmegooglethatforyou.com?

Results from LMGTFY and results from google are the same??
Dave, can you comment something good about LMGTFY? So I am convinced that it is the site that we should talk/blog about.

Some people ask questions (on forums etc) because they don't know what to Google. It's not always that they are too daft to google it.

http://shutupandgoogleit.com/ though the LMGTFY site does look nicer

Thanks for the write-up. For a disturbing peek into the psyche of the internet, also check out the LMGTFY live stream: http://live.lmgtfy.com

The whole point of LMGTFY.com is that it
a) Patronises the user
b) Looks pretty much like google
c) Gives them the results after a short delay
You're actually helping the person, just taking the piss first. Unlike [scuse the acronyms] JFGI (which is just a rant) and SUAGI which looks naaasty.

Great, I knew I couldn't be the first to think of this. I've modified your script slightly and use the following:
javascript:document.location = 'http://lmgtfy.com/?q='+escape(this.f.q.value);
This takes the value from the search box on the current google search and creates a lmgtfy link (Assumes that the current page is google search and the user is using a non-IE browser).
I like it better this way, but "to each their own".
