Hi, just to say it's worth checking the PageRank of directories too, if you click my name on the left, it'll take you to a page which lists some of the directories with higher PageRank - these give you more weight with search engines.

I'd say most directories are pretty useless as sub-pages have a low PR, and some even have no-follow on their links! Try article submission too...

I think there are more important Directories, not only DMOZ and Yahoo. But you have to check the links. Try to use the Directories that give static Links outside.

There is a strong gossip that the relevance DMOZ clones (and even the original) will be reduced to zero in Google. IF this truly happens, other SEs are likely to follow suit- that will mean cleaner Search engine results.

I wouldn't blame Google for romoving DMOZ clone directories, especially at a time when unique and sought after "content" weighs heavily in Google ranking. Although, I still think it can't hurt to submit to all valid free seo-friendly directories for backlinks. Plus any traffic they receive always helps.

all of those DMOZ Clones will be deleted by google soon. I think they´d like to clean up their index...
p.s.: maybe yahoo should think about it too ;)
